Nigeria | Rohr Not Under Pressure To Select Players Against Bafana Bafana

Super Eagles Coach, Gernot Rohr, says he is not under pressure to field players for tomorrow's Africa Cup of Nations, Afcons, qualifier against Bafana Bafana of South Africa. 

Rohr made this statement while briefing sports journalists during a pre-match briefing on the Super Eagles’ preparedness for the tournament. 

He said there is no pressure on me to field any player because the team is blessed with good and credible players who are ready to give their all for the country.

Super Eagles Will Defeat South Africa, Cameroon - NFF

The Nigeria Football Federation has stated that the Super Eagles will be ready for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa next month. 

The Eagles will have stern tests in the next two months as the qualifiers for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2018 Fifa World Cup kick into gear. 

South Africa will provide the first test as Nigeria attempt to make it back into the Africa Cup of Nations after missing the last two editions while Cameroon will be up next for the Eagles as the qualifiers for the World Cup resume in August.

President of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) Tijjani Umar said at a Press Conference in Abuja on Sunday that the league will begin with an opening ceremony.

He said all the 18 teams were already in Abuja to battle for the top prize. 

The teams that will participate in this year's league are: Dolphins, First Bank, Nigeria Custom, Immigration, Akure Sunshine Angels, First Deepwater, FCT Angels, Taraba Hurricanes, Zamfara Babes and Nasarawa Amazons.

Tijjani Umar has said the body was prepared to start both Men's and the Zenith Women Basketball Leagues this month after concluding all contractual agreements with sponsors.

The NBBF President who spoke with Daily Trust ahead of the federation's board meeting in Abuja at the weekend, said Zenith Bank has released the N35million sponsorship money for the Women league.

Umar also said the new deal for the Men's league which had been concluded, will see the NBBF bagging over $2 million for the 2017 season alone against the $1.5 million for four years in the previous deal.

David Moyes says the club are in need of Nigeria international Victor Anichebe's services to help avoid the doomed relegation.

"We hope that Victor could be back and maybe Catts (Lee Cattermole)," Moyes told Sunderland Echo.

"I think Catts could get some training in but the one we’re really looking to see if we can get back is Victor.
