Over 400 Rams Set To Do Battle At Ram Sports Promoter Association

Over four hundred rams from six South-West states will participate in the eleventh edition of Ram Sports Promoter Association, Ram Owners, billed for next Sunday at Jalisco Sport centre, Oshodi.

The association, national secretary, Balogun Kayode, said the competition which would run for six weeks would afford lovers of ram charging contest, an arm of traditional sports, to enjoy scintilating competition.

Katstina State Badmiton Association Registers 1000 Players

Katsina State Badminton Association says it has registered over 1,000 players as part of its bid to boost the game in the state and Nigeria at large.

Alhaji Abdullahi Charanchi, the acting state chairman, made the disclosure during the end of year lunch organised for badminton players on Wednesday in Katsina.

He said the registration covered three age categories, U-18, U-30, and the veteran players and that the clubs were over 300 from across the 34 local government areas of the state.

Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) may have turned down a request from the Confederation of African Football, CAF to bail it out and host the 2017 edition of the African U-17 Championship. 

Home Eagles To Know CHAN Opponents In April

Home based Super Eagles will get to know their opponents when the 2018 African Nations Championship qualifying draw holds on April 9 in Cairo, Egypt.

This was confirmed by Super Eagles Media Officer, Toyin Ibitoye, on his Twitter handle on Monday.

“The draw for the 2018 African Nations Championship (Kenya 2018) qualifiers will be held in Cairo, Egypt on April 9, 2017,” Ibitoye wrote.

Kaduna State Football Chairman, Abdulkadir Magaji Dies In Lagos Hospital

Independent Vice Chairman of the Nigeria National League Abdulkadir Magaji and chairman of the Kaduna State Football Association, gave up the ghost in a Lagos hospital on Tuesday morning at the age of 52, after a battle with cancer.

He attended the 72nd general assembly of Nigeria Football Federation that took place at the Best Western Hotel, Lagos on 18th December 2016, where the new board of the NNL was inaugurated.

Nigeria's great form at the ITF/CAT West and Central African Championships in Lome, Togo, finally paid off yesterday, as two her fast-rising starlets, Oyinlomo Quadri and Marylove Edwards qualified for the final if the girls’ U-14 final and would now go up against each other.

The clash of both girls would be the second straight meeting between them, with Quadri triumphing 6-3, 6-3 in Abuja last year.

FIFA Ranking: Nigeria Moves To 50th Position

Nigeria moved a spot up and are now 50th in the world according to the latest FIFA Rankings released today.

They are also 7th in the African ratings, which is still led by Senegal, who are ranked 33rd in the world.

However, the Super Eagles ranking is expected to suffer seriously by next month because they will not feature at AFCON 2017 in Gabon and have been inactive since their 3-1 home win over Algeria in a 2018 World Cup qualifier in November.

Super Eagles Shirt Forced Me To Move To China - Mikel Obi

John Obi Mikel has revealed that his move to Chinese side Tianjin TEDA was inspired by his wish to keep a shirt with the Eagles. 

The Eagles captain had already stopped playing full time for the Super Eagles while several pundits have expressed concern that his inability to command a playing role might lead to a loss in form.

Eagles technical director, Gernot Rohr has also supported Mikel's move to Tianjin TEDA.
